We have taken two of our popular effects units and combined them into one case that is smaller than the combined area of the two individual items. From this single unit you can access many distinctly unique sounds with an almost infinite array of Tones and degrees of Sustain.
1) The input to this unique device is our universally acclaimed High Impedance, Unity Gain, Class A Buffer with it's superior RFI rejecting capability (to eliminate Radio Station interference) and Low Impedance Audio output, allowing the use of extended cable runs from the Duplex in bypass mode. This fixed impedance load presented to the Guitar allows the pickups to operate at their optimum, even when several effects units are connected after the Duplex. The Unity Gain Buffer also prevents "Ghost Distortion" being audible in Bypass Mode. Our effects get the most benefit from being fed into a clean, full frequency response amplifier and I recommend that when you receive your pedal you connect it up without anything else in line, just Guitar/Pedal/Amp, and discover the way the controls interact, both with themselves and the guitar/amp controls. Adding the rest of your effects, you may find that you need to make slight adjustments to these to compliment the constant signal provided by the
ST-2/NB-2 Duplex™.2) An isolated Tuner Feed is fitted which splits the buffered Guitar signal and allows tuning to be carried out at any time.
3) The ST-2™ features a superior RFI rejecting input and bypass buffer stage feeding a discrete Class A transistor multi-stage amplifier that has the carefully controlled gain structure with added adjustable Gain and Tone correction circuitry needed by today’s active rock musicians. The ST-2™ has wide range “GAIN”, “TREBLE”, “BASS” and “VOLUME” controls and we recommend that try some of settings shown below, making small adjustments as you play. The “Neutral” or “Unity” settings of the controls are: Bass/Treble - 12 o’clock; Gain – fully counter clockwise; Volume - 3 o’clock.
Used on it’s own the ST-2™ can correct for deficiencies in tone or signal strength of instruments or amps.
Used in an effects chain the ST-2™ can correct or alter the tonal characteristics of other effects units.
4) The PETE CORNISH NB-2™ was originally designed as an integral part of each Pete Cornish Custom Pedalboard and Rack Systems. The NB-2™ allows a boost in volume, without any tonal alteration, to lift a player’s solo above the background sound level.
The footswitch on this unit is not a bypass switch; when the indicator light is OFF the NB-2™ acts as a unity gain buffer amplifier with high signal level capability and can drive long cables without tone or signal loss.
When the indicator light is ON your pre-selected amount of boost (up to +27dB) will be available at the output of the unit. There is no tonal change or phase shift to the boosted signal. When used as the final effect, just before the amp input, the NB-2™ will give an instant increase in signal level, including the outputs of any preceding effects. Used with a clean amp the NB-2™ provides a pure volume increase and when used with an overdriven amp the extra signal will take your amp to a new level of excitement.
5) This unit can be made in two variants: ST-2/NB-2 Duplex™ : the signal routing is ST-2™ > NB-2™ > amp or as an NB-2/ST-2 Duplex™ where the signal routing is NB-2™ > ST-2™ > amp. This mode provides variations to the amount of pre-boost feeding the ST-2™ input.
6) All our pedals sport multiple internal shielding that contribute to their ultra-quiet operation.
7) The battery is replaceable via the removable “drawer” and we recommend alkaline types. The battery is switched on when you insert the “IN/PWR” jack and to ensure long battery life unplug this lead when the unit is not in use. If the unit is not to be used for an extended period, we recommend that you remove the battery. Also fitted is an input for a DC adapter: the size of the connector is M2.1/5.5 with negative (-VE) tip and positive (+VE) barrel. The adapter should be fully stabilized at 9.6V and capable of supplying 20mA. We recommend the use of the BOSS PSA series adapters (PSA-100/110/220 or 240 depending on your local AC supply voltage) as meeting the above criteria and cannot accept any liability for damage caused by the use of, or to, any other type of AC/DC adapter.
Although the current consumption of our Stand Alone pedals is
extremely low, giving an extended battery life, it may be appropriate to use an
AC/DC Adaptor for long term usage. If a single pedal only is in use then the
Boss PSA series will be cost effective but we do not recommend this unit for
powering multiple effects as ground loops can become troublesome.
After extensive testing for both noise, stability and reliability we have
pleasure in recommending the Voodoo Lab Pedal Power 2 Plus as being suitable for
powering our range of stand alone pedals - particularly when multiple effects
are in use. The isolated outputs of the Pedal Power 2 Plus prevent the
occurrence of ground loops and the noise level is too low to measure.
